Our Wedding Venue Open Events

Here at House for an Art Lover we organise a number of ‘Open House’ wedding events, these are scattered throughout the year as a chance for all potential bookers as well as new and existing couples to visit and to see the rooms set-up to help you envisage us with your perfect wedding venue set-up.

This year we have offered a few different styles of ‘Open House’ and within this blog I thought I would take the opportunity to discuss the differences in our events and what to expect during your visit.

Dates & Times confirmed for the rest of 2019;
Wedding Open Day- Sunday 11th August 2019 / 12noon-3pm
Wedding Open Evening- Thursday 17th October 2019 / 6pm-8pm
Drop In Events – more dates may be added!

Drop-In Events

Our Drop-In events are available to you as a chance to see the rooms set-up and to view the House for the first time. These events are generally for new couples and our events team will be on hand to help show you around the rooms and chat through all of the possibilities for your perfect wedding day. This is a more informal opportunity to see the spaces.

Can I attend this event if I have already booked House for an Art Lover?

You are still welcome to attend if you have a date in place! The team and I may be carrying out initial show rounds but you are more than welcome to have another wonder around the suite for inspiration while the rooms are set-up.

Open Day Events

Our Wedding Open Day events have a similar set-up to the Drop-in days with three exciting additions – a delicious selection of chefs Canapes for you to try along with Prosecco and one of Cocktail Kilners!

Wedding Open Evening

Our Open Evening events are held twice throughout the year. These evenings are my favourite to host as this is a huge opportunity for us to show off the WHOLE House.

These evenings offer a unique opportunity to view the ground floor shop and cafe area, with the dancefloor and furniture set out as it would be for your evening reception. In some instances, this will be your main chance to see downstairs set-up so it is a wonderful time to visit. Upstairs on the first floor, the Mackintosh Suite will be fully set-up for a ceremony, drinks reception and sit-down meal. Prosecco and cocktail kilners will be served on arrival along with some yummy canapes (who can resist a Haggis Bon Bon!).

Who can attend this night?

Anyone can! This night is available for all wedding couples, those newly engaged and looking for their venue or those counting down the days until their wedding. It’s the ideal time to bring along any close friends or family to see your venue too!

Will there be anyone there to assist me with questions?

There is indeed, I will be there along with my colleagues from the events team and we will all be on hand to answer your queries about our wedding packages or show you around the rooms. I always enjoy seeing new reactions as people walk through the suite for the first time and experience it fully set and decorated, it really does provide an amazing feel for what your own wedding day could be like.

Will there be any suppliers in attendance?

A few suppliers from our guide may be there to assist us in making the ‘Open House’ seem as true to the day as possible, this is unique to the open evening events.

In the Mackintosh Suite we do usually have the lovely Kirsty Anne from Prepare2Party providing chair covers and linen options, they also offer lots of centrepiece and favour ideas if you are looking for inspiration. The chair covers provided have also been made to personally fit our chairs, so this makes a huge difference when it comes to overall presentation. Musicians will also be there to provide us with some ambient background music that you can enjoy during your tour, while getting some ideas for your own wedding day. Capella string Quartet and Chris Connelly Pianist are our favourites! Not forgetting that Alan Barr from Capella is now a registered Humanist, two birds with one stone!

Downstairs we will have some evening entertainment for you with our recommended band DeVille or DJ Dougie from Floorfillerz. Within the arrival area we will have Go2 Event hire with their stunning light up letters and often also a few vintage arcade games (I have still never fully completed a ‘Buzz Off’ silhouette, maybe one day!).

We also have the guys from ByGone Photobooth hire set-up in our lounge area, they are the perfect company for all your photobooth needs and are lovely to boot! Pop in and have some fun, you can also take your shots away with you!

Can I ask Hannah personal questions about my Wedding day during this event?

During this event I will be aiming to catch-up with as many people as I can, I am more than happy to help but I would ask that any larger queries are popped in an email for me the day after or I can organise to give you a quick call after the event has finished.

Wedding Suppliers Fayre

The first event of the year on our Wedding calendar is always the hosting of our annual ‘Wedding Suppliers Fayre’. On this fun filled day all of our well-loved suppliers from our Suppliers Guide will be present to chat with you and provide options to fill all of your Wedding desires. Our suppliers cover almost everything you could need for the day from cakes and photographers, to DJs, pipers and bands plus a jeweller, makeup artist, florist and stationer – we only work with the best!

This day is an ideal chance to have a look around their stands to see what is on offer and would be the ideal first step in your planning. On the day of our Fayre the Mackintosh Suite is not set-up for a wedding, instead our supplier’s set-up their individual stands to display their work or let you experience it in the case of the musical entertainment and cake suppliers!

I’ve included a link to all of the suppliers in this year’s guide, perfect if you are still looking at options for your big day!

These suppliers will also be more than willing to provide you with advice and top tips throughout the year. If you would prefer a hard copy of our Suppliers Guide, please just ask and I can organise for a copy to be posted out to you.

Our next event is on August 11th so if you are interested in coming along please let me know on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
