Heritage Centre

A proud past

“Reason informed by emotion, expressed in beauty, elevated by earnestness, lightened by humour – that is the ideal that should guide all artists.”

Charles Rennie Mackintosh

Developed by House for an Art Lover, the Heritage Centre is housed within the former stables and dovecote of the original Ibroxhill House, showcasing the rich and diverse history of Bellahouston and the surrounding areas.

Visitors are invited to explore the history of neighbouring Govan, from its roots in  farming, textiles and coal mining to its industrial expansion and world-renowned shipbuilding era.

A documentary exhibition highlights the region’s architectural heritage, public art and sculptures.

Learn about the British Empire Exhibition of 1938 though a dedicated showcase featuring an animated fly-through, designed by Glasgow School of Art’s digital design studios.

This flexible space is also available for exhibitions – ask us for more details.
